My Definition of Art

The Mona Lisa

When I hear the word 'art', The first thing that usually pops into my head is the Mona Lisa. This famous piece was created by Leonardo DaVinci, a man of science and knowledge. I don't know if the constant stare was intentional but it is another reason why she is famous. Another reason why this painting is so famous is the fact that it looks more like a photograph than a painting. This is an example of how effective art can be with a lot of time and work.

In my opinion, art is what makes the world go 'round. One form of art that I use a lot is Music. It can be used to express emotions, thoughts, feelings, and sometimes even can be used to tell stories. One of my favorite pieces of music is the song Dig by Incubus (Click to listen to the song). This song really moves me and the band is really good at using emotions in songs. Dig is all about the importance of forgiveness and passion, and the guitar solo really moves me.

Art can also be used in the form of words and text. A commonly known form of this is poetry. There are many different poets in the world but one that i like is the poet e. e. cummings. One of his poems that i really like is 'in just-' and if you look at it, you notice that it is spaced out and none of the words are capitalized except for the one word 'balloonMan.' The 'M' in the middle of the word is capitalized and only near the end of the poem. That is my definition of art.
